POWER TRAINEngine - 429 4V
Transmission - Automatic (C6)
Axle - 2.80:1
EXTERIOROriginal Ford Color - Dark Maroon
Original black vinyl top still appears like new. Three or four hail dents on driver's door plus two creases from other vehicles' doors. Paint worn on header panel over grille.
INTERIORTrim - Dark Red Grain Leather &/or Vinyl
Dark red vinyl upholstery is very good except driver's seat needs cushion insert repair. Carpet appears new, even at driver's door sill plate.
I replaced AM radio with AM-FM Stereo from '69 station wagon.
MISCELLANEOUS EQUIPMENTAdded capacitive discharge ignition. Converted carburetor to manual choke, replacing troublesome automatic choke. May replace distributor with modern self-contained electronic model. May add water/methanol injection to carburetor in order to keep original high-compression cylinder heads while using modern inefficient chemically modified gasoline.
GENERAL INFORMATION AND HISTORYMy mother bought car from Holiday L-M used car lot in Fort Worth on March 24, 1973; odometer read 35,910. She wanted a Mark III, but I convinced her to buy this unusual Mercury. After engine broke 2 oil pump shafts in mid- 1980s, I traded a '69 Montego hardtop for the Marauder which was driven only a few hundred miles a year afterwards. It may not have been driven since 1989-90, has 1990 Texas registration sticker on windshield.
